Replacing harddrive  in  a LS410D301:

I have a LS410D301 3TB  with FW of 1.84 and the hard drive is end of life. I plan on using TFTPD32.452.rar files to partition and format a new drive (Thank you sijaeng for you 2016 post "TFTP boot and Update FW of an almost dead LS410D").

Do I have to get the same drive model number?  Can I use a 4TB version of the drive or a 2TB drive.
Has anyone replaced  the drive with a Nas grade drive?

Current condition of the NAS: I can get at most of the files on the drive  but S.M.A.R.T is say it will fail soon and the NAS Navigator Interface comes up with "No information avaliable in all the boxes after about 10 minutes of attempted connection time. I am assuming this is a result of some system files that have failing.

Thanks:
