Linkstation Mini returns invalid data when file not found

I just purchased and installed a Linkstation mini.  I set if for RAID1 and updated it to firmware 1.06.  I tried to load it with files but got some stop from Explorer during the large set of files loading. 

 

Since Explorer does such a fine job of finishing up a failed copy (not),  I decided to finish the load with SyncToy.  I have used it for years on the current NAS box from Maxtor.  When SyncToy scans, it looks for files to see if:

1. They are there,

2. They are newer or older. 

If they don't exist, they should be copied after the scan finishes.  However, the scan won't finish.  I get an error for a file which does not exist on the LS-Mini saying "Exception during preview: Not a valid Win32 FileTime.  Parameter name: fileTime"  And I am done!  SyncToy stops there.

 

It is difficult to imagine that a file which is NOT THERE could have an invalid date/time stamp!  

 

Called Buffalo tech support.  Nice fellow answered.  He said to force 1.06 on again.  I did... Same problem.

 

So I am now writing for anyone else to help before my 30 day trial of this product expires and I have a very small, almost useless doorstop and have to go back to the old reliable (so far) Maxtor NAS.  I prefer the RAID1 and larger disk with LS-Mini.  The smaller size is nice but it does run rather hot, which is a bit of a flag to me.

Try "Initializing" the unit through the web interface (Maintenance > Initialization > Restore to Defaults).

 

If you are still getting that error, try formatting the unit and then run that transfer again and see what happens.

 

Also, not sure how picky that software is but maybe make sure that the date and time are correct or at least with 5 minutes of the computers time (remember Eastern timezone is GMT -(minus) 5).
