I'm using an LS210D NAS and at this point everything is working just fine on my LAN. The problem is with the outside world. There are two problems that I'm having. The first is that my WAN address does not match the one that buffalonas.com thinks it is. Yes, I haven't set my router to use a static WAN address yet, which I will do, but how would I go about refreshing what buffalonas thinks my WAN IP address should be? This issue seems to have come up before: http://forum.buffalo.nas-central.org/viewtopic.php?t=43937.

The second issue is that I'll go to places like whatismyip.com and find my wan ip address. If I use that address with the port that buffalonas is trying to use I get nothing. I did update my router settings so that the buffalonas port forwards to 9000. I'm not quite sure why that isn't working. On the LAN, if I use the NAS's address in the following fashion: https://addr:9000 I can get to webaccess. It would be nice to get this part working and then tackle my first problem. It's easy enough for me to test these settings as I can VPN into my office and test from there.

Regardless, thank you all for your past help!

Make sure your external port is set up on your router too and matches what is in the WebAccess setup on the unit.

So to get to your NAS you would do http://[publicipaddress]:[externalportnumber]

That should then forward you to your internal ip address on the internal port number (which you know works) if the forwarding is set up correctly.

If all of that isn't working, then buffalonas won't be able to update properly. You almost certainly don't have your forwarding rule set properly. Remember, its an external IP address and an external port that then goes to an internal ip address and internal port.
**A single copy of data, even on a RAID array, is NOT a backup! Hard drive failure is not a question of IF, but WHEN! Don't take my word for it, take Google's!**

Well, my face is red. Like an idiot, I wasn't paying attention many moons ago when I plugged my old router into the modem. It was no longer just a modem, but a modem/router combo. I removed my old router and just used the combo with the correct UPnP and port forwarding settings. Now it works like a charm.

Thank you Texturtle and Eastmarch for lending a hand! I am a satisfied customer.

We're glad to hear you got it working.
