Linkstation - "Firmware corrupted"

Hi,

I have a Linkstation LS421DE which is showing 7 blinking red flashes (E07), which according to the manual means "Firmware corrupted".  This is following a series of unsuccessful attempts to upgrade the firmware.  The device shows this same error code whatever I do - for example, if I boot it with no hard disks it shows this "firmware corrupted" state whereas in the past this has normally resulted in it appearing on the network in EM mode.  Similarly, if I boot it with two empty hard disks it still says "firmware corrupted".  The device is not visible to either LSUpdater or NAS Navigator and I don't believe it's a network config issue as it's attached to a router that will give out an address via DHCP.

I'm not concerned about data loss as have backed up everything and in fact cleared the hard drives that go in it.

Does anybody have any ideas as to how I can salvage the situation?  It seems a real shame to just throw the device away.

I assume the Linkstation must have both a chip-based firmware and the version it keeps on the hard disks.  Is it possible that the chip-based firmware has got corrupted?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks

I believe I am having the same issue. 7 blinking lights on a LS T410. If the firmware is corrupted, is the data still recoverable? How can we fix the corrupt firmware. Anyone, please help? :(

You need the TFTP image to recover the unit, the data would be erased during the process.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
Having network issues? Drop me an email: info@interwebsireland.com and we will get it fixed!

Have i helped you? Buy me a coffee as a thanks!

Why not publish in a separate topic for all devices the TFTP image and instructions ?

There's no way to recover the data (family photos/videos)? :(

Sorry this reply is a few months late; I just wanted to reply to say that I was able to recover my own data by attaching the disks to a PC running Ubuntu (you just need to make sure you install mdadm (sudo apt-get install mdadm), so that it can auto-detect and mount your RAID array).
