TS-HTGL/R5 firmware and IP setup needs updating but can't access settings

I've been using the TS-H2.0TGL/R5 NAS since 2009 and have been very happy with it. However, a recent power cut corrupted the firmware, so I needed to update it using the TSUpdater.exe downloaded from the Buffalo site. Unfortunately, since my PC ws upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 I had only been able to access the NAS settings via the web, and not via NasNavi2, so the update couldn't be applied, so I decided to buy a newer and bigger NAS, TS1400D/4TB, to replace it, and then copy over the data from the old NAS hard drives.

That was completed last week, but in the meanwhile I changed my ISP and router, and my default gateway changed from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254 at the same time. Now I can access my new NAS, but I couldn't remember the admin password for the TS-HTGL/R5, so I reset the device using the button behind the drive door. However, I still can't update its IP address.

Sorry for the long and envolved explanation. Can anyone help me update the firmware in my old TS-HTGL/R5 and bring it back to life again?

Thanks in advance................Phil

Is there any way to update the firmware without being connected to a Windows device, such as via a USB connection?
