Hello:

I have a LinkStation Mini (LS-WS500GL/R1) with Firmware 1.06, I am located in EST.

The admin screen shows that the mini has the proper time but when it writes files out the files have a time of one hour later then the real time.

This is causing problems with my archiving system.

As a temporary fix I changed the time on the mini to be one hour earlier.

Is this a know problem?  Is there a real fix for this?

Note:  I tried to set my GMT to -4 instead of -5 but still get the wrong time.

But if I set the time an hour earlier and leave GMT to -5 everything seems to work.

Not sure GMT is working properly because if I set it to -4 it should write an hour earlier.

Yes I would have to agree with you.  Not sure why they do not respond to problems, I guess they are making too much money and do not need any repeat business.

I thought this was a DST problem, but thought more about it and why would it be?  The Mini shows the "Current Local Time [ right time ]" if it just wrote what time it displays everything would be proper.  I know it is off an hour which seems like a DST bug, but if the mini is displaying the proper time, it should just write.  I guess the problem could be that whoever did the web page interface knew how to show the time properly??

Sure seems like this is an easy firmware fix.  A pitty, I like the drive and was considering getting another (nice price / preformance) but I have never been able to get any support from them either.  I reported my mini can not use the auto off mode - once it shuts off it never wakes up again, I just leave in full on mode but I could sure save half it's life if it worked properly.

Thnaks for the feedback

Sorry about the delayed response.  We are testing a live device we have here to attempt to replicate the issue.

Thank you for your patience.

No BobVal we're not making too much money for repeat business and the comment isn't welcome. We're busy answering repeated posts because some users do not bother searching before posting. The device does not have a DST setting and from the look of it probably never will (that's up to our firmware developers). As it stands the user has to adjust the device GMT bi-quarterly in order to ensure proper time stamping. Please keep in mind our staff is not just limited to forum postings but phone support as well and we do appreciate your patience.

I have been attempting to replicate this issue with our live device as I have stated before.  Unfortunately I am unable to do so.  When you first noticed this happening was there any changes to your network environment?

One thing that I would attempt try is to reset the device to defaults.  This will not remove any data.  All it will do is restart the services, reset admin username/password, delete the users, set to acquire via dhcp, it will no longer be joined to Active Directory, and it will disable FTP and Web Access settings.  If this does not work attempt to update the firmware.

Edit:  I see that you have the latest firmware for the device.  You might need to do a force firmware update which the steps for that can be found above in the FAQs.  Keep me posted with your progress.
