Unable to login after firmware update

Hello Everyone,

I have a Linkstation DUO, model: LS-WM1.0TL/1D and recently upgraded to firmware 1.71. Ever since, I cannot login to the web interface. Even doing a factory reset will not provide me access using the default credentials. There are plenty other threads from people with this exact problem, and each one states that the solution is to contact support for assistance. Supposedly there is an LSrecovery.exe utility they will supply that can help with resetting the password.

So I contacted support, and it seems they will not help me since my product is no longer under warranty. While that is true, this makes no sense to me since everything was working fine until I applied their official firmware update. I'm not looking for a replacement unit or anything... I can still access my files, and everything seems OK except my lack of access to the web interface. I would downgrade the firmware but, oops! Need admin pwd to do so.

Hopefully someone can help me out. It would be much appreciated.

Please, can anyone help me? Buffalo refuses to because the warranty is expired. I don't understand since this was an official firmware update from buffalo, and you can't even UPDATE the firmware without the correct pwd. Firmware updated with no errors, and now it does not accept any password. The factory password reset process does not accept the default u/n and pwd combo. To me this is not a matter of warranty support, as I seem to not be the only one this has happened to.

Was the unit in Emergency Mode before you did the update? If you can still access the files then the recovery.exe file is not for you.

So sorry for the delay, but thank you for responding.

The unit was not in emergency mode before updating firmware. And I misspoke earlier when I said I could still access my files. My shares became unmapped and I cannot re-map them. I attempted to remove the first drive and used my external dock to connect it to my PC, but the data is all in RAW format. I am in the process of using easus data recovery to try and recover the files manually, but I would like to regain usage of my linkstation.
