I have an LS-QVL328 with two drives that won't power on. I have pulled out the drives and attached power and they spin up without a problem.

Is there a place to buy a barebones unit to put the drives in? Or a replacement system board?

Failing that, is there another Linkstation that will take the four 3tb drives and work?

Thanks.

I used my Linux box to troubleshoot the problem. I plugged all four drives in and ran an mdadm --examine command to look at the raid information and drive 2 was bad. It appeared to be something with the SATA bus because it was throwing SATA errors as it came up in Linux. That could be why the other two would not power up.

I put drives 1,3 and 4 back into the unit and I could access the data.

The enclosure finally gave up the ghost right after the array rebuilt. It's in permanent blinky blue mode.

Tried EM boot, TFTP boot, neither worked.

Put the four drives with the repaired array into the Linux box and it found the four luns. I mounted Array 1 and can access all the data. I am thinking that I will just delete the partitions and build either two raid 1 arrays or a single raid 5.

Thank you to the posters with this suggestion . . . it was a lifesaver.
