Unwanted shutdown Linkstation Live

I have been using my Linkstation Live (HS-DH320GL) without any problem now for 2 years until last week. Since last week it happened more than once (in fact 7 or 8 times now) that my Linkstation Live shut down without any notice. No lights (including power and error lights) are burning, just a steady beep is sound. This beeping ends when pushing the power button once, the unit will boot after pushing the power button once again. After booting up everything seems to be fine and I can access the data as before. Sometimes it takes days before the problem reoccurs, but is also happened 3 times within the hour.

 

This morning it happened again and found out that the fan wasn't running. So, I figured, that could my problem. On the forum I found the suggestion (more than once) to reflash the firmware, although it was already 2.11. After I forced the firmware flash the unit seems to come up normal (as it always does) except the power light keeps flashing. The data can be accessed like before, so everything seems to work. The fan is still not running.

 

Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with my Linkstaion Live?

   It could simply be that the fan is failing.  You could set up email-status messages, and see if a fan warning gets sent to you.

After rebooting the unit a couple of times, the power light is now steady burning, as is the link light.

 

But I still would like to know why the unit shut down automatic.

 

Does the fan need to be running all the time, or is it triggered by temperature?

   I did set up e-mail notification for fan failure, but I never get a message about this.

   The fan is Not running contantly. An hour ago it didn't run, but now it does. So there must be some sort of temperature trigger.
