icon does not appear on mac desktop

Hello - I cannot get my Buffalo back-up drive icon to show up on my desktop.

Diskwarrior was used to confirm that it could 'see' the drive, and it confirmed that the icon SHOULD appear on the desktop. 

 

I also zapped the PRAM and set the selector switch to 'Auto' on the drive; none of which worked

 

The drive has been working fine for over two years.

 

Specs.: 

Computer: eMac; 1.25 GHz; PowerPC G4

Drive: HD-HB160U2-WR

What version of the mac are you running?
