LS-XL HD size limits?

Hi - I just inherited a Linkstation LS-XL 3.0Tb unit whose drive is beginning to fail.  It contains a WD Green drive, but I'm thinking of replacing it with a WD Red in the hopes that the drive will last longer for continuous-on use.

With drives getting larger and larger, has anyone tried replacing their drive with one of the largest available - i.e., 4Tb, 5Tb, or 6Tb??  Will they function in a Linkstation, or is 3Tb a hardware limit?

Thanks!
