Time Machine is not functioning on LS220DE.

 Just purchased a  LS220DE and successfully backed up my windows machine to it. I have the time machine option turned on in the web interface and the network share is seen on time machine but when I select "on: it returns " Os Status 2". Using my google-fu I find that it is a common problems for a NAS to have, although other manufactures seem to a have a workaround, where in this case-buffalo doesn't....
