LS210D Can't access browser interface

Ever since I got this drive it has had trouble maintaining connection with my Mac.  Sometimes Time Machine is able to back up to the NAS and sometimes it can't.  The NAS has an IP address (the router even reports that it is online), I can ping it, and I can browse the share folder where the backups are stored.  However Time Machine searches for a while then times out saying that it couldn't connect.  NAS Navigator2 can find the drive however if I try putting the IP address in my browser it cannot be found.  Sometimes if I reboot the NAS it will resume functioning normally.  Other times - not.

What is going on with this NAS and how can I fix it?

What firmware is installed?

Firmware is v 1.80.  I tried to install the newer one (v1.84) but I am unable without access to the management interface.
