Greetings all.  After searching the forums, I've not found any existing thread addressing my specific issue, so here goes:

I just set up my Buffalo LinkStation LS441DE Series with four Western Digital Red 4TB NAS hard drives.  I powered it up, the white light blinked as the green lights for the individual drives lit up one by one.  Minutes later, the white LED turned solid, and beneath it a red LED.

I ran through the NAS Navigator2 setup which found my NAS, identifying it as LS441D-EMCA1, and also placing a round blue icon with the letter "i" in the middle.  Toward the bottom of the window, the LS441D Series device was identified as being in "Emergency mode" in red letters.  To the right of that, the following information:

Workgroup:  UNKNOWN
IP Address:  192.168.10.2
Subnet Mask:  255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:  0.0.0.0
MAC Address:  DC:FB:02:DA:0C:A1

This was also accompanied by a pop-up window entitled "Message from LS441D-EMCA1" stating:

Status:
Emergency mode.  Update the firmware or contact technical support.  (2015/05/16 13:30:07)

I returned to the Buffalo web site and downloaded the latest LinkStation Series Updater, version 1.80.  It popped up with the following information:

Host:  LS441D-EMCA1
Workgroup:  UNKNOWN
IP address:  192.168.10.2
Subnet mask:  255.255.255.0
MAC  DC:FB:02:DA:0C:A1

And just to the right, it identified the Firmware version as "----"

I clicked the "Update" button, and the updater responded with a pop-up entitled "LSupdater" saying:  "Partition not found.  Aborting firmware update."

Simply put, how do I get my NAS working?

Did you actually read the quick setup guide??? Reboot the NAS, wait for 2 solid LEDs, then press the function button for a half a second and wait 15 minutes -> done.
