HD-CEU2 DriveStation

Just bought DriveStation External USB 2.0 500GB Hard Drive for my PC running Windows XP(service pack 3).

I have trouble with it right from the start.

The brief instructions enclosed in the box says " DriveStation will instal automatically". This did not happen. I have managed to instal it and have two folders on desktop.

HD-CEU2_110 and HD_CEU2.

The application seemed to be staring up OK at first, as I was asked to choose either  FAT32 or NTFS (I do not know what these are)  and I have selected NFTS and Turbo USB (but both of these I know nothing about and am not sure if I should have selected them).

There is no Manual or further information.

Any folder which I click on inside the HD-CEU2_110 folder just gives a list of their contents. There is Images, Manual, Tool and more.

I have no idea how to start the Memeo AutoBackup Software or where it is,  or how to  proceed to backup my PC data.

The leaflet enclosed with the produce says " consult the User Manual located on your DriveStation," but it is impossible to do this since it is not there.  Neither does it appear on your website.

Please advise.

The HD-CEU2 is a plug and play device, that being said information is very limited due to the simplicity. So it should have appeared as new hardware found the moment you installed it. As far as the Memeo software is concerned you should find it in one of the folders on the drive. However what is more important is the memeo serial key, which would be found either on the bottom of the device, on a piece of paper that came in the package, or the CD label. If you are able to find this key, then all you will have to do is download the memeo backup trial version from www.memeo.com. Once installed you will be able to use that key to unlock the full version.

Also keep in mind that there is a certain set of data that needs to be applied before anything can be written to the device - FAT32 and NTFS - are file formats that are both compatible with windows. By default the drive is formatted to FAT32, which is compatible with both windows and mac machines. The drawback to this is that you can not transfer files of over 4gb. If you're planning on using this strictly on a windows machine, you'd be right in selecting NTFS.
