Linkstation Quad Shutting Down

I purchased a Linkstation Quad 4T about a month ago from Fry's.  Very nice unit.  The last few days it has begun to shut down on it's own.  Sometimes it is after initiating file copy requests, other times there is nothing going on.  When it starts the lights on the drives stop blinking and become solid and any copy or use is stopped.  In about 20 or 30 seconds the power light begins to blink blue.  Then all the drive lights turn off, then the bottom two turn back on, then the unit powers off.  Sometimes it comes back on on it's own in a minute or two, sometimes not.

I can't find any logs to show what is happening and there is no indication of any problem in the administrative pages or the NASNavigation2 tool.  When I start it back up, it will begin blinking blue, the drives will light up and the unit begins powering up.  Sometimes there is an intermittent red blink for the power, sometimes not.  Eventually, the power light is solid blue and it works just fine until the next cycle.

Sounds like a power supply to me, should I take it back to Fry's? We have some data (actually pictures) on the unit we don't want to lose.

You should contact buffalo tech support at 866-752-6210.  We will set you up with an Advanced replacement.  You may be able to pull the data off onto the replacement unit and possibly recover the data.

Tech Support is 24/7

There's a switch on the back. Make sure its set to Manual instead of AUTO.

Thanks for the advice.  I ended up returning it to Fry's.  They were not going to just let me trade the box and keep the drives, they wanted to replace everything.  I told them there was about 25 Gig of pictures we wanted off of the drive, and they said that would cost $79 to transfer the data.  Eventually, they finally gave in and let me have the old drives and a new box.  Put in the drives fired her up, and she has been humming along ever since with no problems.
