Increase HDD Size of LS-QVL

I have an LS-QVL NAS with four 1 TB drives and setup for Raid5. I would like to replace the drives with 2 TB drives to increase the capacity.

I have backups so don't care about losing what is on the existing drives.

Can I simply replace the four 1 TB with 2 TB drives and then create the RAID5 array? Or are there additional intermediate steps?

So you can not simply replace the disk without doing a few steps. Do the following

1. Delete your raid array and you should have 4 disk in JBOD
2. Reboot you LinkStation and then replace disk 4 with one of the 2TB. Format the disk in disk management. Once done Reboot and repeat.

You want to go from disk 4 to 3 to 2 to 1. I found this easier. Once you have all 2TB disk formatted. Rebuild your raid and your done. This unit can use 3TBs FYI.

Heres why you would do this;
You can't replace all the disk at one time as the os is installed on the disk. deleting the raid will make all the disk act independent with the os on each disk. Formatting the new disk will put the OS on the disk. For some reason, sometimes replacing 2 or more disk can make the unit stop working. No idea why. Just know this from experience.
