Terastation permissions question

I have a Terastation 3400 that I have joined to our active directory. I have a share I will call "Share A." I have granted read/write permission to "Group A" on "Share A." However I have not specifically given permissions to the individual "Group A" members to read/write in "Share A." When I go to the "Domain Users" tab for that share, the group members are still on their default "prohibited access" checkboxes.

Looking through the manual it mentions that the highest restriction takes precedence.....so does this mean the members of "Group A" won't be able to read/write on "Share A" because their individual user permissions are set to the default (prohibited)?

We are having a lot of issues with these permissions causing problems. The owner of a file gets "read" "write" "read & execute" and "special" permissions while everyone else with "read/write" only gets "read/write"? The situation is that a certain software is only able to open files that are owned by the user. All other files that they only have "read/write" permission to, it takes 15 minutes to open the file (usually ends up not responding).

As long as you set the group to what you need to which is read and write, do not have both options read, read and write checked or the read will take precedence.

If that doesn't work then you will have to go to the user level and set each use to what permissions you need them to be but you shouldn't have to. I have a TS5400 and the user interface is the same. The firmware is different to a degree due to features and different hardware but this feature should not be different. I have setup a test network and simulated what you are trying to do and only needed to do the group. Though im not sure what other kinds of policy you have that could be effecting the users in a permission way though that shouldn't effect the folder in the Terastation.
Units I own: TS-XL, TS-WXL, LS-WVL, TS-RXL,  TS5400, TS-RVHL,

I don't work for Buffalo but i do love there products enough to help people
