Hi,

I have a LS441DE model with 4 2TB drivers on RAID5.

I was testing the DLNA server, and it works fine, but my .srt subtitles doesn't appers on TV.

I know that Buffalo NAS uses Twonky Server, right? How can I know what is the version installed on my box? Is that possible to upgrade only the Twonky server?

How can I make .srt subtitle works?

Thanks!

Best regards,
Eduardo

What firmware version is installed on the LinkStation?

1.70 is the original firmware for that unit. Current version is 1.74. Per the release notes most of the updates have been made to deal with security vulnerabilities so it's probably the same version of Twonky as the original. With version 1.74 the Twonky version is 7.1.1. That version should support srt files, just make sure the filenames match.

You can check the Twonky version by going to port 9050 on the IP address assigned to the LS. Just point your browser to the IP of the LS and add :9050 to the end.

It's also possible that the TV itself doesn't support it, the DLNA spec allows for a lot of variance in supported formats.

Yes, the Twonky version installed is 7.1.1, but the srt subtitles doesn't work :(

The .srt files have the same name of the .mkv or .avi video, but I can't enable the subtitle on TV. I think that is an issue of my DLNA LG TV.

When I ask the LS441 for check for updates, it says that I have the latest release.

How can I upgrade to version 1.74?

Best regards,
Eduardo

Just go to the Buffalo website and navigate to the page for your device. There will be a downloads tab on the page listing all available downloads for your unit. There will be two versions of the firmware update utility, one for use with Windows and one for Mac. Get the appropriate file, extract it if necessary, and run the utility. It will locate your LinkStation and allow you to update it.
