Please point me in the right direction on how to recover from this.   I have linkstation duo with two drives configured independently (no RAID) and all of suddden Disk 1 folders disappered.  I can still see the shares, but when I try to access the shares that are on disk 1, I get an error.  Disk 2 shares work fine.   Please help!

At this point in time you may want to consult with a data recovery specialist.  Another possiblity is a program called UFS Explorer (the liscence is about 50$, I believe), but that is kind of a gamble.  It might be worth a try though.

You can also try accessing it via FTP, but that's a long shot.
