My LS-QL/R5 4TB  configured as 1 Array @ RAID5 has been running fine for some years.
Yesterday whilst ripping a CD from W7 Laptop, to NAS, via LAN  , the laptop lost all mapped drives.  Reboot failed to reconnect.  Checked QUadstation... it appeared to be running.... but couldnt get to the Logon.
FInaly let me log onto admin page, and I find it is undergoing a "RAID CHECK".  I've been unable to access the data on the NAS for over 24 hours now and it is still running a "RAID CHECK".

Is there anything I can do? should do ?  should be prepared for ?
WIll my data be there once it finishes ?
Getting very worried.....
Cheers

The check has finished.
I restarted the NAS...
Now it tells me  "A format or disk check" is underway !!!

How do I know which ?  why would it FORMAT ?
What is the point of a RAID Storage NAS that I seem to have no control over..and that apears to be wirping all my data ?
Anyone any ideas what is going on ?

So today, i seems I can access the 'INFO' folder.  i.e. the folder that was factory set up on the device that has documentation etc....
But the shared folders with my files in, remain off limits.
In Windows Explorer, it will list them... but cannot accee them.

The admin logon and associated pages show no info about anything going on at all.  However, all reference to disk space used etc.. is blank.

Anyone any suggestions ?
I remain baffled.
I accept a disk could fail, but the whole point of having this system and RAID is to ensure there is no on point of failure !!!
I've emailed Buffalo direct but there is no response from that angle...  yet

Cheers

Post a screen shot of the Nas Navigator,

"but the whole point of having this system and RAID is to ensure there is no on point of failure !!! "

This is just simply wrong! Ever heard of a backup?! for example, how can RAID protect against a RAID failure or a brown out?!
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

I had forgot totally about Nas Navigator not having run this  for years.
it shows the RAID5 as unformatted.. and so I fear the worst..
BUT...
I can still see the Folder structure if I  VIEW the Linkstation from NAS Navigator. which opend Windows Explorer.
I can also access the INFO folder with manuals etc in it...
But not any other share..
Nor can i MAP the shared folders via Navigator. It tells me to first define a shared folder ??????

Very worried now
See image attached.

Also - Davo.. yes.. I have backups.
I  meant to say '.. to ensure there is no "one" single point of failure' .  But clearly there is.

anyway.. back to the point...
Is there any hope of getting the data back ?

FYI - i've now run a complete Disk CHeck too...  still no joy.
I can see the shared folders. But I cannot access them (except for the INFO folder) .
Nor can i access them via the 'settings'  menu (via browser).  - what do you call that application ?
Anyone any ideas on recovery options ?

Or am I just trashing the complete unit.  One things for sure I cant see how i can ever trust it again.  !!!

No response from Buffalo support desk either...   :-(

Sure I have backups. But to be completely locked out like this... with no help from support
  naaah...

Bought a Synology.
WOW !!! the User INterface impressed from the start.  MAssive step up.  (but maybe the latest Buffalo has this too.... I wouldnt know)

You had a RAID failure, only option to get the LS working again would be to delete and recreate the RAID.
