What UPS for Linkstation?

I have a Linkstation Duo and a Linkstation 420.  The user manuals state the list of UPS recommended for use with these drives is posted on the Buffalo website - it is not.
I have posted a message to Tech Support and I got an automated response saying they would get back to me - they haven't.

Does anyone know what make / models are suitable?

I have two LS-WVL/e enclosures and three CyberPower SX550G UPS units and both NAS units have the "synchronize UPS with this unit" choice grayed out on all three units.
I called tech support and have a case number. The first tech had me reload version 1.65 firmware that was already at that level and restore defaults which I did, no joy.
The second tech asked me if my unit was on the compatable list and I asked where's the list. She couldn't find such a list. After going through the procedure wh was to email me a reply after checking. that was yesterday and I would get a reply today, the day is young.
There is mention, wrongly or rightly of bit tollerant problems with firmware 1.68 in another question. In a list of things addressed in firmware version1.65 listed USB problems. My unit(s) will recognise a thumb drive.
I suspect firmware 1.65 fixed some issues and caused others.

And all these difficult to read verification words are a royal pain in the arsh designed to keep those of us with poor eyesight from posting! But I can still count and add:-)

YOU SHOULD work for buffalo.
I did search but could not find it AND
Two people at Buffalo support couldn't find said list either.
But they didn't have your sarcastic attitude.

Additionally all the recommended APC units are for JAPAN!!
Do a search on BK350JP or BK500JP. You'll realize what the "JP" in the model number stands for.

I checked several times last year and the list of supported UPS for my Linkstation Duo was not clearly posted.  I had a url for the list that was posted by someone on the forum but it did not work.  The list is now shown under the current documentation list for my Linkstation Duo.

The list of Linkstations that are supported by the approved UPS does not yet include the LS-420 series.

I note the Japanese suffix for the APC models but I assume that the European versions will work in a similar fashion.
Someone on the forum suggests the APC Smart UPS range will work.
The Back-UPS BK650-AS apparently works.

I have just updated the firmware on my LS420D to version 1.3.  The notes state that UPS linking more than one Linkstation is supported (but not which models of UPS are recommended).

sorry if i sound sarcastic but it sounds like you really didn't try to very hard. Maybe you were talking to new hires at buffalo the 3 times i have called in my life they have been pretty knowledgeable. Now for the sad news. to me it seems like most of all the documentation is translated from Japanese to English and then reworded. So i would use cyperpower or APC that support serial connection for TeraStations or USB connections for linkstation. I have to cyperpower units for my TeraStations and they work perfect. APC will work good to. LinkStations seem to work really good with APC. This is from experience but i cant remember the model i use to have. Battery died so i threw it away. i know this will work but there's no USB connection. USB connection is used to tell the linkstation to shutdown when the power is close to being depleted.

This one has a USB but i don't know it will work well with the LinkStation.

Either way there will be a UPS.

I use this now for the Linkstation and one of my TeraStations.

Works fine so i cant complain. Though i remember i had some issue in the beginning but some how it fixed it self.

Believe me I did search. Before retiring I spent 30 some years in field service for computers and he last thing I ever wanted to do was call support. I did have some direct level 2 or 3 numbers but I only resorted to them if I was truly stumped. Otherwise  you started out with the "have you checked to see if the power cord is firmly plugged in" level one script readers.

A friend who also owns a Buffalo LS-WVL has the exact CyberPower unit you have. His equiptment is mostly all in one area and it works out fine for him. But my computers are on the first floor and my 2 NAS units, cable modem, security DVR setup, 16 port gb switch and monowall router all are in the basement on a shelf. I have 2 older APC 650 serial units for everything but the NAS. I don't care if the other stuff loose power "ungracefully" but I don't want my NAS units to crash when a battery runs down. I used my kill-a-watt meter and found one unit with one drived used 12 watts, both have 2 drives now. I read someone said 45 watts each. So just about any low power UPS will work for my needs but shutting down the LS units is a requirement.
So I'm looking for a lower power unit with USB communications that will work with a price inline with the hardware I have. I have CyberPower units for each of my units that were instantly recognized by windows 7 and 8 when I plugged them in.
I'm not ready to hack my NAS and install a "nut" but it seems a few have.
As another on a UPS thread "It ain't rocket science".
There's an APC BACK-UPS XS 900VA  craig's list that's priced right even if it needs a battery.
