TS & LS do not show in Network Map (Vista/W7)

Both my Terrastation Live and LInkstation Live do not show up in the Vista/Windows 7 Network Map (that opens up when one clicks on 'Full Map' in Network & Sharing Center'.

 

Looks like they do not implement the LLTD protocol (responder) part?   If so, any plans to do so?  Isn't this 'required' for Vista/W7 compatibility?

Can you access the GUI and shares in the conventional ways?

Yes - I have no other connectivity or sharing issues. 

 

In doing some research, it *looks like* for devices to show up correctly on the Network Map in Vista and Windows 7, they need to support the LLTD protocol (Link Layer Topology DIscovery Protocol).   Maybe the Terastationa nd Linkstation do not have these.. (but I would think they need to have it in order to be declared Vista/W7 compatible).

Well it's now 2014 and these products STILL don't appear to support Link Layer Topology Discovery. I have an XL and a WVL, neither of which show on the W7 network map. They both have the most current firmware (1.62-1.64)

The more serious issue is it results in both of these NAS devices intermittently failing (cannot find specified media) when attempting to run backups with the supplied Novabackup 14 build 18. Pity because my supposedly inferior WD "My Book World Edition" supports LLTD and Novabackup works every time with the WD as a destination.

I think it's about time for a fix, Buffalo!
