I just received my 1TB MiniStation HD 2 days ago. When I got it, I formatted it to NTFS. Installed the encryption/password program. Spent a lot of yesterday putting files on it. Spent this morning putting files on it. No problem there.

Later this morning, I unplugged the HD. Then an hour or two later I wanted to put more files on it. Plugged it into my same computer, was prompted for the password. I entered the password and the drive was authenticated. But it never showed up on my computer (Win7). Tried all my USB slots and another computer. Same problem. It authenticates the password but the HD never shows up.

On the bottom right of my computer taskbar, where you can eject USB devices, it allows for me to eject the HD and even recognizes it as the MiniStation. But I can't access the HD because it won't show up under my HD devices on my computer. What gives?!

Thank you.

Edit: The green light is on (solid green - unblinking). It turns green after I authenticate. Before that, it is red, showing the need to authenticate. This seems to indicate normal functioning.

I found my ministation's white LED blinking after I installed VMware Workstation.
When creating virtual machines VMware by default configures them to automatically grab any attached USB disc.

Solutions:
1. configure VMs to NOT automaticcaly connect USB devices
2. stop VMware USB Arbitration Service
3. Do not add any USB Controller to your virtual machine

I also had the blinking LED issue with properly configured virtual machines and recovered the following way:
1. started a virtual machine and connected the Ministations virtual CD ROm drive
2. started DriveNavi, selected "decrypt now"
3. the ministations white LED stopped blinking. LED was on permanently now
4. the hard drive did NOT show up in the virtual machine at this time. Don't worry!
5. I disconnected the ministation with from VMwares "removable devices" menu
6. now both virtual CDROM and hard drive showed up on my physical computer again
