Have been working on this for a while, trying to work out what was happening.
We use 2x 3Tb USB HDD's that we swap alternately and run a NAS backup too.  That works fine(ish).
But if we disconnect the drive - it's not in use - the shares are disconnected for about 20 seconds - also any files that are open are 'cut off'.
This is the same if we choose 'dismount', the shares are dropped, and AGAIN when we disconnect the drive.
Anybody else experiencing the same issue?
Latest firmware.  Have tried different USB ports & cables etc.

This is the same on all Terastations, once a USB disk is disconnected or unmounted the samba services is halted for a few seconds, no workaround as far as i know.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Hi, yes so it would seem.  Tech have support have confirmed that it isn't a fault, it's supposed to happen.
A bit disappointing to say the least.

Coming back to this.
This is a high availability, enterprise NAS device.
Can it REALLY of been designed so that when you disconnect a USB drive, it drops the shares?
It is pants.

Simon.
