I am having quite a frustrating experience with my attempts to connect a newly purchased 3TB DriveStation DDR to my existing LinkStation Quad 4.  I purchased the DriveStation with the intent of using it as a backup drive to my LinkStation through the USB port on the LinkStation.  I am stuck in the early stages when I try to Format the DriveStation after plugging it into the USB port on the back of the LinkStation.  I am accessing the <Format> tab from the System/Storage menus.  Selecting drive type of EXT3.  After entering the supplied confirmation number, I get a message that states "Failed to operate disk.  Please resubmit after restart." And then I'm stuck.  I have been on the phone with Buffalo Tech support for multiple sessions totaling more than 90 minutes and they have not been able to assist me.  To make matters worse, their Tier 2 engineers are only available when I'm at work so their support process is not working for me.  I am running the most up to date firmware on my LinkStation (v1.65).  Is there anyone that has encountered a similar problem that might be able to shed some light on my situation.  Greatly appreciate any responses that might help.

Connect the drivestation to a PC, run the disk format utility that came with the drivestation and  change the sector size from 4K to 512bytes.

That worked.  Thank you for assisting.  One more question, I was told by one if the techs that I need an additional utility if I want to access the drive from my PC now that it has been formatted as EXT3. Do you know what that is and where I can get it?
