I filled up my 2 x 2TB drives in my Drive Station duo so took them out and put 2 x 3Tb drives in and all was great (well expect they were noisy and rattly).  Anyway needed some media off the old 2 disks today a few days later so de-powered the unit and put them back in the same slots but nothing goes.  They are seated and in the same slots but get a long beep and a popup telling me I need to rebuild the raid.  Why wont they just work as before?

This is an absolute heartstopper so any advice very welcome.

Just a little more info:

I have both red leds on indicating: Replaced disk capacity is lower than original one. Unable to start rebuilding RAID. Yes the old disk pair are smaller than the newer pair - why would this be an issue?

Also Three second beep then silence = The Disk1 or Disk2 is failed. Replace the drive.  They havent failed - they are FINE when removed a few days ago.

So worried :-(

STOP PRESS = this company has human support staff that are accessible to its customers.  I'm used to most big IT companies making it as difficult as possible to get in touch or relying on forum volunteers to support its customers for free.

BRAVO BUFFALO.

Ohh and dont EVER take the drives out everyone else - bit of a design flaw that with quick release slots too and me being used to doing it on a Drobo :-(
