Unstable network transferrate on HD-CELU2

Hi.

 

I bourght a Buffalo HD-CELU2 to use on LAN. I should use it for two reasons...

 

1. To backup (Im in fact using Memeo with great pleasure)

2. To stream music to my laptop.

 

Number one is running without any props. I have made my Vista reconnecting to the device on startup, witch it does, and I have no problems finding and browsing the drive. (That is... In fact sometimes I can't see all of the files on my "music" folder until I have refreshed (F5) the explore.....But that's minor... I think :))

 

Number 2, on the other hand.... If I'm lucky I can hear one maybe two songs (MP3 in 128 or 192 Kbps) without breakouts... If I'm not lucky it breaks the song several times in each song.

 

I have tried to copy a large file from my laptop to the storage device, and keeping an eye on my network traffic, it shows that the connection on a regular basis "Falls out"... The transferrate is maybe 50-70% of my laptops wan-capacity, and the on several occasions, it goes down to zero for a little while... And then it raises again to what it was before....

 

About the same happens when I stream music, though only about 0,5 - 2 % of the capacity of the WAN is being used...It falls out and goes up again.

 

I tried to update the Firmware, hoping that may solve the problem, but it hasn't´t ...

 

I hope someone in here can help me... Although the drive isn´t the fastest in the world, it should be able to keep up to streaming small mediafiles as MP3-files about 3-6 mb, shouldn't´t it???

BTW... I made a screendump of my network activity from the Task Manager... I just don´t know how to upload it (or if it is possible to do that in this forum)... Anyway, if can be of any help, I can email that to you or something...
