I was able to originally set up the LinkStation but the web interface its self was god awfully slow. Now in the past week i can log in to the linkstation but once ive done that it just shows the header of the page and nothing else. I can still access the drive on my network just fine, i just cant administer the drive.

I've looked around the forums for solutions and have tried doing the software update (the revision that cam out on the 16th of Feb), which from what i can tell was successful. It found it at first, went through the update then said it couldnt find a link station that needed to be updated. So i assume it was successful.

Ive tried the reset button but im not sure what that is suposed to reset. After pushing and holding for about 10 seconds the login i created is still the same and has not reverted back to the default.

Any help resolving this would be great. This is a great product and i hope to get it fixed.

   When it says that it could not find the unit it meant that it could not find a unit with an older firmware. You need to fallow the force firmware procedure in the knowledge base. That should fix your issue.

Ok, i followed the force firmware steps.

It gets all the way through uploading 3 different files including the largest file (hddrootfs.img) and errors out after awhile when "waiting for firmware to install." It says it cant communitcate with it anymore, check settings and try again. Then when i try to search for it the program doesnt find it anymore. I have to close it and reopen it for it to see it again. It still has the original FW. (3.08-0.01)

   Your going to have to try and plug the unit into your computer with a static ip address of 192.168.11.10. From there boot the unit then hold the reset button to return it to its defualt ip adress of 192.168.11.150. From here try updating the firmware again.

When you log into the gui, what username and password do you enter?   Have you tried just admin for the username and password for the password?  If nothing works then you can try the following firmware force procedure, at the bottom there is a part about deleting the user config, which will reset the user/pass to the default (admin/password), which should help access the gui normally.

To force the firmware update onto the unit, you will need to enable Debug support on the Updater.exe. To do this open the lsupdater.ini, or nasupdater.ini file from the firmware. Whether you have nasupdater.ini or lsupdater.ini will depend on the firmware version. Open the .ini file and add the following two lines to the of the text file.

[SpecialFlags]

Debug = 1

Also, change the version check line to say:

[Flags]VersionCheck = 0

Now, save the .ini file and run the Updater.exe. Click on the top left corner of the Updater window, on the small picture, and select "Debug (D)". This will bring up the Debug options. Select "Do Not Check Version" and "Force Update".  Also, if the issue isn't resolved after the update, you can go back and check the "Delete User Config" option, and this should reset the user/password for the web interface to admin and passwor.
