HDD Error on LinkStation Pro HS-DH750GL

   I'm getting HDD read errors for 2 sectors on my Linkstation.  Eventually, this error causes the LinkStation to power itself down with an audible alarm (beeping).  MTBF varies, but I'm surprised that read errors on 2 sectors of a 750GB drive would cause a shutdown.  Are there any utilities out there that will detect/repair these sectors like chkdsk/scandisk?  What repair options do I have?  thanks.

Hard drives have a certain number of bad sectors that they can allocate around, but once that bank has been filled, the drive will be unable to cope with further bad sectors. Since bad sectors are physical abnormalities with the magnetic material on the disk, there is unfortunately no way to repair them. If your device is still under warranty, you can call our support line to set up an RMA so we can replace the device.

   More info...found the culprit.  Bad fan on the linkstation.  How can I get a replacement fan?  I can install myself - but want to ensure I get the right replacement type.  Any help appreciated.

Is your Buffalo unit still under warranty? If so, pls send it for RMA processing so they can replaced it for you.

If not, then you can simply buy the fan from any stores selling hardware electronics like **bleep** Smith.

Swapping parts will void your warranty. As tanjl said, if the LS is still within the 1-year warranty, call us to set up an RMA. Otherwise, here is the info for the fan for HS-DHGL:

   Where can I purchase one of these fans? I have looked all over the web and I am having the exact same problem and my unit is out of warranty?
