I have an HD-CE500U2 hard drive for my desktop which has not been used in several months. I unplugged it to try to use on my laptop and when I try to access it hard drive, I get  a message that says I need to format the disk before using.

I unplugged from my laptop and tried to use on the desktop and I get the same message.

I have data that I do not want to lose and I know that formatting the disk will erase the contents on it. What can I do to save the data?

Thanks
