HI all

it has been a while since i have posted!
Previously I posted about my Link Station Quad model LS-Q4.0TL/R5 not working.

http://forums.buffalotech.com/index.php?topic=6545.msg74089#msg74089

Seems like it was a problem with the case and I could not buy just an empty case for some reason...i couldnt find one.

So finally i bought a new unit..but being in Japan I didnt buy the right unit ...instead i bought the HD-QL4TSU2/R5 which is not the NAS version..
Anyway I put all the drives into the new drivestation box.
I then load up diskmanager and it shows that all 4 drives are healthy (see attached) image a.jpg.

I am sorry to trouble you all but I was wondering if there were a way to rebuild the array without deleting the data
I am afraid of doing so without any advice from the pros

BTW I am not 100% sure it was a Raid 1+0, but I remember it being so where originally i had 4tb but i wanted added protection so I made it a Raid 1 or a 1+0 mirroring 2gb.
Is there a way to check this?

You need to use data recovery software like UFS explorer to recover the raid.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
Having network issues? Drop me an email: info@interwebsireland.com and we will get it fixed!

Have i helped you? Buy me a coffee as a thanks!

Thanks for your reply Davo!

Here is a screen of what UFS reads
does it imply that my machine was previously set to a Raid 1 configuration? with all the Raid 1 messages near the bottom.
forgive my simplicity.
if so UFS does not give an option to rebuild raid 1

Just 0,3,5,6 and JBOD
I did read somewhere else that buffalo 4 HD's are a combination of two 0 raid configurations though i cant find the link anymore.
I believe with drive 1 and 3 as one Raid 0 config
and 2 and 4 as another

Hi All

I did a check and it seems like all my files are still there! great ;)
Now all i need to do is rebuild the array -
It shows storage as
RAID 1 (2 drives)
RAID 1 (2 drives)

considering I dont need to "recover", rather I would like to restore the raid function is there a free tool that does this without wiping the data?

Kind regards!

I don't know of any tool for restoring a RAID configuration for a NAS device, you would be best served getting a large external HDD, moving the data there, then reconfiguring your NAS (depending on the issue).

Depending on the issue you are having with your NAS, it should be easy once you get your data off to get the NAS unit back up and running. If you can get into the UI, IE the system boots properly, that's the easy part, if you get an issue where the unit never boots (constant flashing power) then you might have a drive with a bad boot partition on it, simply unplug one drive at a time to find the bad seed, then rebuild from there. (IE Shutdown unit, pull drive 1, power on, if it boots, GREAT drive 1 is bad, if not, power down, put drive 1 back in, and pull drive 2, repeat the same process for all 4 drives), then again, if it does an E06 you might have to do the TFTP boot...

If all else fails, if you can, call the Tech Support line, they wont be able to help with data recovery, or the DriveStation unit, but might be able to help or at LEAST point you in the right direction to get the unit back online (IE if it requires TFTP boot they wont help, but will point you here to the forum's).

*Should note here my experience is with an LS-Q2.0TL unit I upgraded to 8TB from the original 2TB
