LS-WXL 1Tb

FW: 1.24 (DTCP-IP:1.22-20100113)

I have searched the forums and the knowledge base and have setup FTP/SFTP according to the documentation, but we've run into a problem.

We've setup a share to be accessible via Windows, FTP, and SFTP. We've created local users to be able to access the devices. We have added access restrictions to allow those users Read/Write. We've also tried no access restrictions and anonymous FTP.

However, when we try to connect to the device, we receive an error. Here is the log from FileZilla

Here's the log of the connection:

Status:    Connecting to X.X.X.X:21...
Status:    Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Response:    220 X.X.X.X FTP server ready
Command:    USER chigh
Response:    331 Password required for filesync
Command:    PASS ********
Response:    530 Login incorrect.
Error:    Critical error
Error:    Could not connect to server

When trying SFTP, we get this error using the same credentials. The password for the ID has been reset several times.

Error:    Authentication failed.
Error:    Critical error
Error:    Could not connect to server

We're having the same issue with a TSXL model. Did you ever find a resolution for this by any chance?

I did have an older 1TB Terastation pro that would not allow for ftp access by local users when the device was joined to an AD but I'm sure Buffalo has worked that issue out on their newer devices (I hope??). Even if I wipe local users from the device and only allow domain users access I still cannot login. Hopefully I don't have to get all hacky with this thing and manually mess with config files like I did on the old device :)

Ken

HI... did you ever work out how to GET FTP/SFTP working on your device?

I'm in the same situation... a business (domain accessable) NAS box, that I can't get FTP'able because the firmware is rubbish.

Any advice on how you managed to get it working? Supposing you did of course...

If the LS is joined to an AD domain the FTP server will not work, however you
can use SFTP.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
