LS-WX4.0TL/R1 won't remove permissions

I have a LS-WX4.0TL/R1 on firmware v1.64 connected via Ethernet to my router. I bought this NAS to use directly with my WDTV Live Hubs. The NAS is recognized by the WDTVs but login always fails. I can't figure out why. So, I wanted to completely remove permissions from the shares I set up on the NAS. However, after doing so, the NAS still requires me to log in with valid credentials in order to view the shares.

I have always been able to log in to the NAS shares on Windows and even there, the NAS is still demanding credentials. I have notice that my NAS credentials are not being saved between Windows sessions so I don't know if that's a clue to the problem or not.

The shares are set to Read & Write, Recycle Bin enabled, Windows share folder support only, and Access Restrictions is unchecked. Any ideas?
