Linkstation Live LS-XL shares not accessible in programs

Hello,

 

Got three shares setup on my Linkstation Live LS-XL, and have the same problem on two laptops, one is XP other is Windows 7.

 

Programs, such as MS Word, Miro, VLC player, Picassa etc etc do not see the shares until they are accessed through Windows Explorer.  Before doing this the drives do not show in open/save dialogs or folder lists etc.

 

Using a recently opened files list in a program will result in a message that the file cannot be found.

 

Going to Windows Explorer and just opening the root of the share resolves the problem till next boot.

 

Is this normal?  Doesn't sound it to me!
