Hi, I just unpacked and connected the new drive to my mac. It showed up on the desktop properly. Then, I tried to partition it (2 partitions, MacOS Journaled) using the macs Hard drive utility program. The process stopped, I was prompted that it was not possible to format/erase/partition the drive. Since then, it is impossible to get the drive back on the screen. Not even the utility shows it any more. HELP, PLS. Peter

NEWS: After restarting the Mac, I can see the drive in the utility, as well as a device in Windows XP (Parallels). But still the utility can´t format it.

if you cannot complete a format then the HDD more than likely has an internal fault.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Meanwhile, I was able to mount and format the drive with one partition/volume in Windows XP (not so easy fa task for a Mac native). Back on the Mac, the utility correctly showed me the new drive and the volume. From there, I again started to re-format the thing für Mac. Again, the utility seems to be stuck. Can this take more than an hour (without any safe erase mode turned on in the options) ?

Hi there, Buffalo Tech, I am back: Just sent the device back to Amazon, as it proved impossible to format the Drive for any of my Macs (10.8 and 10.6 as well) in any version of HFS, despite that it seemingly worked in Windows NTFS. Thought you should know that and warn further Mac users. Bye, Peter
