Good day. The EM mode discussion has happened several times on this forum and I have looked at almost all of them but am still unable to get my LS working.

I have just purchased the LS Pro Duo bare chassis and have two WD Green (2 TB and 1.5 TB) drives that I would like to use in it.

Have tried the following :

1. Powering up the LS with no hard drives plugged in.

2. Placing the 2 TB drive in bay 1 and booting it.

3. Swapping and placing the 1.5 TB drive in bay 1 and booting it.

All of the above have failed. NAS Navigator detects the LS but says its in EM mode. Have tried the TFTP boot option (FAQ 3 of 5) but the files don't get requested from the server at all.

Have disabled firewall as well as booted the PC in Safe Mode with Networking but still no luck. Have tried it on 3 PCs - Windows 7 32 bit, Windows 7 64 bit and Windows XP.

Its been a busy weekend for me as you can see.

Ultimately, I have run out of options and ran a Wireshark capture for the above three scenarios. Am hoping someone can look at the syslogs in them and provide a solution.

1. Capture with no HDD plugged in - http://db.tt/tE33KlWP">http://db.tt/tE33KlWP

2. Capture with 2 TB HDD in bay 1 - http://db.tt/Buuxf0zQ">http://db.tt/Buuxf0zQ

3. Capture with 1.5 TB HDD in bay 1 - http://db.tt/jaskx8re">http://db.tt/jaskx8re

It would be nice to have a post in the forum and/or a info sheet in the box for users like me who buy just a chassis and end up with an enclosure in EM mode scratching their heads thinking what to do next.

It is very easy now to buy a diskless LS-Pro Duo LS-WVL/E.  You can buy them from newegg, they're listed on Buffalo's American product web page etc.  So that can no longer be used as an excuse for not providing information on how to recover one.
