Hello guys, I'm a bit stressed out on the possibility of losing a bunch of research-related documents on my drive, so any help is greatly appreciated.

A few weeks ago, I bought the Ministation Plus 1TB as a primary means of keeping my files mobile. I'm using three computers: A desktop with Windows 7 at work; a laptop also with Windows 7 for mobile work; and a personal, older laptop with Windows XP at home. The drive is my solution to connecting large files between the three computers.

After I bought the drive, during the 1st installation, there was a hiccup as the drive was not listed on My Computer. I thought it was unusual, but I proceeded to uninstall the drivers and reinstalling it via Windows control panel and it got sorted out. Which I then transferred most of my files onto it. Then I spent hours organising the files, keeping it current and dumping redundant ones. Last I check, I used up over 150GB already.

Yesterday, when I plugged in onto my work desktop, the drive fails to show up on My Computer (like the 1st time when I bought it). The drive is working (green lights and all), it's detected on the Device Manager (both the drive itself and its USB controllers. It's just not there on My Computer (refer image below). I tried reinstalling the drivers to no avail. Updating the drivers indicate that the drivers I'm using are current.

I tried on my work laptop to the same outcome. Haven't tried it on my home laptop (windows xp), but I doubt the result's different.

I tried to download the drivenavigator, but it states that my serial number is invalid! So did I buy an illegitimate product? (refer image below)

yes it does.

if you look at the 1st image, you'll see the buffalo is listed in the harddisk, while the mass storage device is listed under USB controllers.

I was asking about disk management, not device manager!
