Pro Duo Speed Problems...please help!

Hi there,

Hope someone can help.

After plenty of research and deliberation I finally bought a linkstation Pro Duo 2TB

After some messing about, I have got it all setup appearing to be working fine on most fronts (although never got NaviNavigator working on windows, works ok on Mac).

However write speed is just insanely slow.

If I plug in an external drive to the NAS and copy some files across (as you would wanting to use the NAS as a raid backup for my files) I get speed consistently less than than 1 megabit – just to back up / copy across 16Gig of pictures takes around 10 hours. Also copying over the network is about the same speed.

Clearly this cannot be right. But obviously lots of people are having issues – I've read as many post as I can and thus I've checked I'm on the most recent firmware, I've varied the Ethernet frame rate, I've restored to the factory setting etc...

I've spent quite a bit of time trying various things and nothing helps.

Does anyone have any idea? I'd really appreciate any ideas or input.

Many thanks indeed.

FYI:

Running Firmware 3.09

Raid 1

LS-WTGL/R1-V3

Running N network

Are you doing the transfers wireless or hard wired?  Also go on our website and download the nas navi 1 and see if that works.

Thanks for the reply.

I am doing / testing on both wired and wireless transfers.

I have a Linksys N router (WRT150N).

I'll try downloading the other s/w.

Is it because the external hard drive is not formatted as XFS format?

Dunk

Could this be the problem in terms of type of disk formatting (I'd not read this anywhere)?

Does anyone from Buffalo have any opinions on this? Really be great to get some guidence...really don't have the time to spend hours tinkering on this without any direction or knowing if I can solve it.

Right now I have probably 400Gigs to back up, which I think would take about a month to transfer...clearly something's wrong...or my expectations and understanding of what I am trying to accomplish here is way out of wack!

many thanks for any help
