I have a LS-Q6 TL/R5 that is flashing the red light 6 times when it boots up (E06).  I have read other postings in the forum and I have gone and followed these steps:

 - set the ip of the computer directly connected to the device to 192.168.11.1 (255.255.255.0), \

 - set up the TFTP server (downloaded from the appropriate link)

 - held the function button for 3 seconds (even tried longer) prior to power up

 - powered the device on while continuing to hold the function button for 7 more seconds

One time I was able to see the connection to the TFTP server and it indicated that blocks were served, after that the device rebooted and then continued to produce the same error code

I was not and have not been able to see the device through the navigator and since this one "success" I have not been able to successfully execute the same procedures to connect to the TFTP server; the device never seems to make the request out.

I would like to know if anyone has any sort of input or help that they could provide me here, kinda stuck at the moment and not sure what I should try next.

This is a method to try from another user of the forums, username is Davo

If it is not accepting the admin password then enabling the debug options on its own will not work, you need to first of all get the unit into EM mode then carry out the debug process.

- Power the unit down (disconnect the power)
- Reboot it, if the power led is still flashing more than 60 second's from the first beep on, disconnect the power and retry.
- do this until the unit's power led is constant 50 seconds after the beep and the unit is on EM.

- Please bare in mind that it might take several attempts to get the unit into EM mode (upto 20 times)
- To confirm the unit is in EM mode the letters "EM" will be displayed in the hostname of the Terastation in the Nas Navigator and the firmware will be displayed as "---" or no firmware at all.

Once it is in this state carry out the debug process (especially deleting the users config) and let me know of the results, also the process of trying to get the TS into EM mode by pressing the reset button when powering on doesnt always work so try the process i outlined above.

If there is still no results, please call out tech support line to see of there is another way for us to help you with this problem.

Thanks for the reply, I have tried the approach that you have described over 20 times and still no luck.  The machine is in the same state as I have previously noted.   I have noticed that during one of the attempts there were 300 bytes actually sent across the connection, but nothing happened beyond that.  One thing to note as well, on my LS there is no audible beep so I timing it from the point where i hear the drives spin up.  I am def stuck at this point and willing to try anything that anyone has to suggest in the matter.  If anyone has seen this behavoir and found a way to get it back to a usable state, please let help.

Thanks

Since the have been "blocks served" have you tried a firmware/force firmware update at this point to see if there are any changes.  If there still continues to be problems, it is recomended contacting a recovery center for your data, or using a program to attempt recovery, please be advised that the drives are in XFS format (Linux).
