Hi,

I just replaced drive 3 for the FOURTH time -- new Seagates.  This failure occured within a week of installing the new drive and buildng the array.  Its a Terastation Pro (TS-TGL/R5).

Last failure was this summer.  Then two previous failures last year.

I can't keep going through 1TB drives like this -- its costing a small fortune.

Anyone have any ideas why this particular drive keeps failing?  Its only the drive in slot 3.  I get a "can't find HD3" error on the display.

And the drives are dead, dead, dead once removed.

Thanks in advance for any advice/help.

Hi,

Thanks for your response.  I have actually done that, i.e. tested the drives on a PC, and they are dead, in that the motors boot up, but the drive is unrecognizable in both Windows and OSX.  Drive manager doesn't see them.

However, I think I should go through the exercise of flashing the bios.  Can you send me instructions on that?

I guess the other possibility is that I got three bad drives in a row...but what are the odds of that!?
