Is this NAS pretty much hosed? It's been resyncing for days. The display shows version 1.55. Is that the firmware? Might an update make a difference?

I tried booting it into EM mode. I held the init button on power up until the chime stopped. The power button was flashing green about 2 times per second, the LCD only showed "Welcome to TeraStation" (the display button had no effect) and NAS Nav2 did not see the device. I pressed the power button again and stepped away for a while. When I returned, the error LED was lit and the LCD was red as well and showed me that the unit was in EM and that it had an IP address. NAS Nav2 is able to see it now. Is the red LCD normal when the unit is in EM?

Yes, you can either reboot the machine or relaod firmware to get out of EM mode.
