I had this LinkStation for about 2 years, and it had been working okay. I had it running to do torrent sharing. But this morning, I found it turned off, and when I tried to turn it on again, it wouldn't turn on. The NASNav also could not detect it. I had a "disconnect error" at first, but now, it doesn't even detect it.

I pulled out the power plug and plug in it a few times, and after a few tries, the lights came on.

First it was a blinking blue light, then it went into red blinking, with no pauses, just blinking. After a while, it's now a continuous red fixed light, no blinking, nothing.

I tried to put in in EM mode, but it didn't work.

And to make matters worse, I am using a Mac OS.  I recently upgraded the firmware to 1.61, is that what's causing the problem?

Does that mean the HDD is dead? I had backed the data up recently (thank god), except for the last 2 weeks' stuff, which was a pain. I'd like to get the files back if possible. I'm not a techie, so I would appreciate any step by step instructions if any.
