Have two Pro Duo's: LS-WXL988, LS-WVL8F3, received the subject error message on both this morning on start. Yellow Info/Error LED on both staying on.
LS-WXL988 configured RAID-1, LS-WVL8F3 configured RAID-0.
Any help will be appreciated, LS-WXL988 is just under a year old, LS-WVL8F3 is a replacement for a defective from Amazon, two weeks ago.
NASNavigator2 is continually sending notifications from LS-WVL9F3.
i also got this today ?? but my led is staying on blue
Billy, did you upgrade your firmware to 1.42?
hi m8
is from Vietnam and i dont know if this firmware will brick my nas ???
What is the latest firmware in your region?
hi iam running on 1.41 now, but as above my NAS Buffalo LinkStation Duo - LS-WXL/R1
is from Vietnam and iam living in ireland so not sure what firmware i should be using
cheers
If you bought it in Vietnam you need to be using the firmware from that region. But what is specifically you problem?
on my NASNavigator i,am getting 152:An Unknown Error Occured , what i log into my nas i get this http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb188/billydiscus/nas.jpg
If you press ok does it let you log in? It's telling you that a newer firmware is available. If you can log in and go to system, then maintenance you can do a firmware update from there. Most likely the Nas Navigator is not up to date and does not know how to handle the message from the unit and is giving you the unknown error.
again thanks jotin thing is , is it going to be safe to download that firmware to my box ??? what region is it for ??? sorry to be a pain
cheers
I cannot really tell you. That is something that can only be answered by an admin on this board.
no probs and thanks for your time

Hi
I also have the I52:An unknown error occurred? and a solid Amber light, after updating the firmware to 1.42 on my Linkstation Duo LS-WXL
The LinkStation cannot now be found on the network
I'm in the UK region, and downloaded FW1.42 from the website. Also, as you suggested I've logged into the Settings > Maintenance through the webadmin interface, but I don't have any options to update my firmware here. Maybe because its the UK region, and a LinkStation Duo??
My version of NasNavigator is 2.32, which I think is still the latest version thats available for download in the UK.
I've tried running the update again but the Linkstation cannot be found so thats failed.
I dont wish to go back to FW1.40 as it caused backups in sleep mode to fail to start.
And the only previous FW I have a copy of before that is 1.34
I don't know what to try next. Please help!
Just upgraded my Linkstation to 1.42 and started to get unknown errors. Lost the Linkstation on the network. Switched it off and attached it to my PC via ethernet cable and was able to access it ok. I then switched off, attached Linkstation back on to my network I resetf my router and the Linkstation appeared back on the network - but it keeps sending me warnings, and I have a solid amber light. Contacted Buffalo support, and was told that the Linkstation requires a firmware update and there should be a link on web access - but there isn't a link there and according to web site 1.42 is latest firmware
However the Linkstation is still appearing on my network and I'm able to access the data ok
Follow up - 3pm UK time
Upgraded NasNavigator to 2.34 - now on front page of web access I'm being informed that new firmware is available. The link takes me to maintenance which has a note about 1.43 - click on check for update tells me that a new version of firmware is available - but no sign of 1.43 on the Buffalo Support web site yet.
Andstyles - I suggest that you try attaching Linkstation with ethernet cable to prove it works ok - Does for me
However, if it does, when you attach the Linkstation back to your network there are problems with IP addressing. So shutdown restart Linkstation, Router and NasNavigator and maybe the PC you attached by ethernet cable and Linkstation should appear again on the network, albe it with a solid amber light. Good Luck
I assume at sometime 1.43 will appear on the Buffalo site
The update to 1.43 is at the bottom of the firmware change log on the system maintenance page - scroll down from update firmware button
The version for Europe is 1.42.
I was advised not to use the 1.43 firmware from the USA site.
My box was bought in Europe.
Irmamusic - thanks! I'm already running 1.43 now, but at last I know where to find the update button in the webadmin. It was staring me right in the face!
HFH - you're right, we should only install our region's firmware.
But v1.42 was a disaster, and in v1.40 it wouldnt wake itself up to perform the scheduled backups.
v1.43 - it does wake itself up but it reported read/write errors with the external HD thats plugged into the back. Hoping its just teething problems, because theres no issues writing to the HD when I hit the backup button manually when its awake.
If I get more errors from tonight's schedule then I will be going back to FW1.34! I've spent more time than I care to sorting this out
Hello Andstyles,
Your worries about backup issues on 1.42 & 1.43 will keep me on 1.34 firmware with my primary NAS.
I upgraded my old (backup) NAS to 1.42 (Europe version).
When you keep having problems contact Europe SupportDesk, I am very happy about there support, had two cases solved with there support.
Hi,
I have a brand new LS-WX2.0TL/R1 with 1.43 firmware, the NASNavigator2 NAS ICON has a big question mark on it and when you move the cursor over the NAS ICON the last line in the info block says 152: "an unknown error occurred", also the info/error light is orange. In spite of this, the unit seems to be storing items in the share.
What's going on?
"Again" implies that it's been said once in this thread, not so.
As it is, what has been said in this thread is that since firmware version 1.34 there have been several still-born versions of firmware, 1.40, 1.42, & 1.43, not a real confidence builder, especially when the users are saying they are reverting to version 1.34. FYI I did find the version 1.54 firmware on my own, in the downloads section and it now functioning properly. The thread needs to be re-named with the last part of the name being "Firmware 1.54 is solution".
