: can't copy/delete on my linkstationpro lv series
: selanac82 January 04, 2011, 06:29:07 AM

hello,

i just purchased the linkstation pro lv serives 1tb and the setup was easy. i also attached by WD MyBook to the usb and it was recognized instantly. the issue i'm having is that i can not copy files on either drive to the other, or even to the same drive. i also can not delete any files. i am however able to create new folders/files and delete and move those. i keep receiving the same error about not having permissions with the unix/root users. i have set access restrictions to read/write but nothing has changes. i also tried to change ownership but that didn't work. i have the nas attached to my router so i can connect to it wireless from anywhere in the house.

also another issue i'm having is the nas won't stay on. i have the power button in the on position and not the auto position. after a few hours of not being on it i have to unplug it and plug it back in to be able to access it again. i don't understand why this is happening. it's quite frustrating. i've read through the manuals and couldn't find anything on how to address these issues. it hasn't been the greatest experience so far. thank you for any help in advance.

what format is the WD HDD? My guess would be NTFS.

In order to read/write, to and from the USB HDD the format of it need to be XFS.

thanks for that. quick question.

do i need to format both drives because i can't delete or copy/paste on the nas as well.

also what about the power issue? if i leave it alone for a few hours then i can't recognize it on the network and i have to unplug it and plug it back in. i tried putting the power button in the off position and waiting for it to power down, but i did that and walked away for over an hour and it didn't power down. i just bought this so it's under warranty, should i just return it for a new one?
