: pc-p3lwg/dvd formats?

i know that this old player supports dvix mpeg2 and window video.  it was been working great for years.  will it ever play any newer formats? like x264?  is it a hardware limitation or a software/codec limitation?

I can gaurantee you that no newer formats will be added.
