   I was very much hoping to use my Quad with usenet, utilizing a program such as SABnzbd+ or nzbget. There are apparently methods to install them by telnetting into the Linkstation's root software, but I would rather not use that method. Are there any plans to make usenet a function of the quad?

There are no current plans to support usenet on the linkstations, but i will forward the request to our corporate office.

 

"Hacking" into the device by modifying the software or hardware will void the device's warranty.

   I also would like to see telnet and nfs support added. I was rather frustrated to find that these two functions were not support. But BitTorrent is. Great for pirates. :(

Well, I'm certain telnet functions would be useful for servers, however since these devices are only of NAS type the interface was kept simple.  Sorry for the confusion.

   

Adding Binary Newsgroup/Usenet application would be awsome and much more useful than Bittorrent with the current hate towards P2P and at least with newsgroups your only downloading and not uplaoding and sharing so with your router Qos you can still play gaming online with only about a 30ms penalty. ( though some hardcore gamers throw a fit at a 3ms increase :) )

 

My vote would go for NZBget as apart from a web interface it's written in C++ and is low on resources.
