Title: linkstation live dead?
Post by: edinapimp on January 19, 2009, 09:59:20 PM

Tonight I was sitting at my desk and my Linkstation Live 500G beeped and shut off.  Odd.  I power it back on and immediately hit the web admin and it throws Forbidden at me.  Then I restart it again and since then it's totally unbrowsable.  Not on network, no web admin UI, no nothing.  No error codes.  I can PING it, but I can't ftp to it or anything.

While checking it out I noticed the fan wasn't moving.  Bad fan = lots of heat.  Please tell me there's a way to recover the stuff off this baby.  I'm going to puke if I lost it all.  I have some backed up, obvs, but it's been a while.

SATA USB caddy?  Any options?  Thanks.

I should add that it used to show up on the network as HS-DHGL099 so that's prob the model number.  I don't know about firmware.

Thanks again for any insight.

Fixed.  NAS Navigator thing showed it was in EM mode.  Flashed firmware and it's back.  Fan still broken.  I guess I'll leave case off?  Or crack a window?  It was 25 below here last week, that'll probably be cool enough.
