Looks like I have succeeded in upgrading the capacity of the internal drive of my linksatation live to 3TB.
I bought a 3TB Seagate ST3000DM001 and replaced the original 1TB drive with.
Main help from this page http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/help-please/td-p/69446/page/2. Thanks ESCHER.
(I actually wrote a detailed description minutes ago, but this site decided that "authentication failed", so it was gone.I'll gladly try that again if anyone is interested)
Now I need to transfer the files from the original 1TB drive.
In lack of XFS drivers for Windows, i guess a resonable option is to connect it to the USB port of the LS, and then transfer the files there.
The other thing that buggers me, is the report: "Disk 1: 0.0 GB / 2779.7" to trust.
Is my 3TB LinkStation reliable and trustworthy like the 1TB im used to. Is the firmware able to handle this big drive.
When I DL'd the firmware (1.56) from buffalo, I seam to remember that I did choose the 2TB version at some point, but is this version so flexible that it reliably can handle 3 TB?
Has anyone done something similar ?
Are you aware of any SW that can test the file system ?
BR Henrik
Hi,
I decided to buy a 3TB HDD after my 2TB died but I have not been able to get it to boot by itself. It always has to be a teethered boot with TFTP sending it 2 packets from 192.168.11.1 IP
Can you please let me know how you managed to get it to work and if you can please lead me to a copy of the TFTP files and firmware? Many thanks in advance!
