Title: TS-RXL Bricked, No EM, No TFTP possible.
Post by: fede_pg on February 22, 2012, 08:10:08 AM

Hello, after a failed firmware upgrade to 1.55 my TS-RXL became a brick :( .

If I try to boot the NAS, the boot process stops after having powered on the hard disks, with the message "no init file at hd0, hd1, hd2, hd3...". The device continues to scan the disks, maybe looking for the init file.

No network connection can be established (no DHCP address, no static 192.168.11.150 ip address; I've verified the lack of connectivity with a sniffer too); the device behaves in the same way if I try to enter EM with the button ando no TFTP boot is possible.

I've already read all of the FAQ in the forum, but nothing seems to be helpful: any other idea?

I actually have the same issue.

Were you able to get it back up and running?

I got the same Problem after trying to update to Firmware 1.63. Is there anybody out there to help me with it? Could it be solved since 2012? Did I loose my TBs of data?

Is there a error in the display? Information the better. Can you ping. Can you access the unit. Saying same thing is to broad.

Hi Joma,
no I can't Access the Terastation (no Ping, not with the Buffalo Navigator).

It all started with a Situation when the Terastation got into a deprecated state. While synchronising I got aware of a new Firmware update (to the latest Version). So I used the latest Navigator to update the TS. After update the TS didn't reboot itself and I couldn't reset it neither by using the web Portal nor by pressing the button. Finally I pressed the button a Long time and I never saw the TS again. The TS now is kept in an endless Loop of rebooting (it says that it can't find the System on any HD) until I Switch it off. And yes I tried to Keep it on over night.

Is there still a Chance to get my data back?

Recover your data using UFS explorer, once done format the HDDs and TFTP the unit. There is no reason why TFTP will not work if you follow the instructions correctly however do this after you have recovered the data.

Hi Davo,
Thanks for trying to help! How do I operate UFS Explorer? I can't access the TS and UFS Explorer just show me HDs on my desktop Computer. The TS is still (Initializing Boot, NAND, etc, Detecting RAID, Initializing, Power On HD1..5, Initializing SATA 1..5, AND FINALY "NO INIT FILE ON HD1..") in an infinit reboot cycle.

You need to remove the disks from the TS and physically mount them to your PC.
